Are you a Male Teacher of Colour with a demonstrated financial need and commitment to the path of Yoga? Learn More About our BELOVED COMMUNITY Scholarship....
We acknowledge a gross underrepresentation of POC (People of Colour) in the yoga world but are committed to changing this. In particular, there is a huge absence in men of color and we believe one key of making yoga accessible is by encouraging diversity in teachers, healers, and studio owners. In order to eliminate some of the barriers around certification we've developed a scholarship for prospective Male Teachers of Color with a demonstrated financial need and a commitment to the journey of yoga. We call this scholarship the "Beloved Community Scholarship" as it's been founded by the tremendous generosity of our student-base and in honor of the philosophy of Atlanta's first Yoga, Dr. Martin Luther King. Dr. King spoke of the idea of a "beloved community" not as a fairy tale where differences did not exist - but rather - as a reality, a real option...that would exist when a critical mass of people were trained and committed to the principles of nonviolence.
And this is the path of yoga.
Our 2019 Scholarship is a $1600 Stipend toward our July Summer Intensive Training in Cuba from July 1st - July 27th 2019. This experience; the ability to spend a month in Cuba, the ability to focus solely on the journey toward teaching without distraction - can be a LIFE CHANGING TRANSFORMATION. We have two BELOVED COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE. Apply by March 1st.
The Current Cost of Training includes accommodations, certification, books, and food at the retreat center. Our stipend of $1600 will be applied toward the total cost of training. However, the balance of $2199, the cost of travel, the visa ($50), valid passport costs, and any on island transportation (taxis) are not included. While it is possible to spend very little beyond the cost of training please be prepared to address your plan around covering costs in your application.
All applications should be submitted by March 1st. We will select a recipient by March 15th and ask for a deposit of $700 by March 25th. A payment of $900 is due by May 1st and the final balance must be paid by June 15th. Two BELOVED COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIPS are available.
We would like to thank our amazing community for supporting this effort. We are not a 501(3)c so these generous donations we truly a gift of heart)
